India BIS(The Bureau of Indian Standards) released Amendment regulation for conformity assessment that will include Scheme 10. (2022 further amending the Bureau of Indian Standards (Conformity Assessment) Regulations, 2018)
A new Schedule 10, which deals with ‘Conformity assessment scheme for grant of license to use or apply Standard Mark for goods and articles as per the specified requirements’ shall be inserted. Under this Scheme, the manufacturer may be granted a license for demonstration of conformity of goods or articles, to the specified requirements and the specified requirements may be given in the relevant standard or essential requirements specified for the product or both.
The major amendments:
Marking: Product and/or Package (BIS Standard Mark: specified requirement)
Manufacturer may have choice for the license of demonstration of conformity of products.
Validation for license grant will no longer that 6 years. (3 to 6 years)
Foreign manufacturers need to nominate their Indian representative to process BIS application.
